Picking Yourself Up When You’re Feeling Down

When I’m down, down in the dumps, everything feels bad. I’m not interested in anything, don’t feel like connecting with others or even going outside, don’t even try to move me. Pass the ice cream. It seems that I want anything that will actually make me feel even worse!  The last thing I want is to see happy, joyous people, laughing and having everything I can’t have. It’s like a part of me is keeping me prisoner and won’t let go. Wow! That’s pretty dismal. And, the fact is, I truly am down. I’m feeling bad because my physiology is in my down state – slumping, shallow breathing, frowning, heavy, looking down. My feelings are heavy like quick sand, just pulling me farther in. My thoughts are supporting the whole process with fantasies and stories of how down I am, how it will last forever, there is no hope. Have… Read the rest....

How to Love Yourself

If you’ve suffered from low self-esteem like I have for most of your life, loving yourself doesn’t come easy. But, it’s the most important thing you can do in life. The way I think of it now is that the Love you have within you is Divinity and it’s how that Divinity in you connects with the Divinity in everyone and everything else. Nurturing the love in yourself increases your experience of love in the world. We all have an inner judge that is very good at pointing out everything wrong with us and everyone else. This judge who is determined to find fault with everything is the opposite of love which is appreciation and gratitude. The judge is a trick the ego uses to separate us from each other. As long as you are finding fault with someone, it’s hard to feel good about them and share good energy.… Read the rest....

HappyThankYouMorePlease

I just heard of a film made by Josh Radnor (you might know him from the hit TV show “How I Met Your Mother”). It’s a very positive film titled, “HappyThankYouMorePlease”. He said in an interview that he heard that when you are grateful for something, it’s just not enough to tell the Universe “thank you”. You should also say “more, please”. I thought this idea was a brilliant way to go through life. In Huna, they have the Aloha blessing, which can totally change your life. You simply bless everything you enjoy about your life as it shows up. It incorporates the power of two things: your word and your intention. When you bless something and are grateful for it, it expands in your life. If you want more money, but don’t have enough, take a good look at how you treat richness in the world. Do you bless… Read the rest....

Appreciating Yourself and Increasing Your Value

As within, so without. The way you think about yourself is the way the world thinks about you. If you value yourself, the world values you… …if you don’t value you yourself, you might find that money does not flow to you. If you ignore your needs, you may find people not paying attention to you… …not giving you the credit you deserve. If you’re not sure how you feel about yourself, then people will reflect that back to you, having mixed feelings as well. Have you ever taken the time to notice this? It is amazing. And when you finally realize what’s going on, you take your power back. You stop blaming and get to work. Here is a simple exercise I credit to Serge Kahili King, Ph.D., an amazing Huna teacher. It’s simple, but might be difficult to maintain; however it is well worth the effort if you… Read the rest....

How ‘Poor’ Are You?

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” “It was great, Dad.” “Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked. “Oh yeah,” said the son. “So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father. The son answered: “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the… Read the rest....
